As AI becomes more present in the workplace, many leaders wonder how it fits into something as people-focused as team building. Can it really help teams connect, collaborate, and be creative?

The answer is yes, though perhaps not in the way you might think. AI does not replace human connection. It supports it. When used well, AI can help leaders design more engaging and inclusive team-building experiences that bring out the best in every team member. Here’s how:

1. Can AI Help Generate Team Building Ideas?
Many HR and team leaders rely on the same formats such as lunch outings or workshops, simply because it is hard to come up with new ideas. AI tools like ChatGPT or Notion AI can act as creative partners. Provide a few details like team size or goals, and these tools can suggest tailored activities to suit your needs.

2. Can AI Make Activities More Inclusive?
Traditional team-building often suits extroverted personalities. But what about remote staff, neurodiverse team members, or those with different communication styles? AI can analyse feedback, highlight team preferences, and suggest inclusive options. For instance, if physical games do not suit everyone, AI might suggest virtual storytelling or low-energy problem-solving games instead.

3. Can AI Support Ongoing Team Development?
Team building is not just a one-off event. AI can support long-term engagement through tools that track mood, collect survey insights, and provide regular reports. These reports help you understand what is working and where improvements are needed. Some platforms even match activities to specific team challenges, like communication gaps or onboarding needs.

4. Will Using AI Feel Impersonal?
This is a valid concern. Team building is about people, after all. But AI should be seen as a helper, not a replacement. It assists with planning and analysis, while the real human connection still happens through delivery and interaction. In fact, by taking care of admin tasks, AI allows leaders to focus more on meaningful engagement.

5. What Is a Good Starting Point?
Start small. Choose one part of your workflow to improve using AI. Maybe it is generating new ideas or analysing past feedback. Let your team try the tools and share their thoughts. Involving them early encourages buy-in and builds interest in the process.

AI is not here to take the heart out of team building. It is here to help it beat stronger. When used thoughtfully, AI makes it easier to build inclusive, creative, and impactful experiences that keep your team connected.

Workplace health is an important part of human health as we spend most of our time in the work field. These days, technology makes it easier for us to improve our health on a daily basis. Not only are there wearable devices such as smartwatches and smart glasses but there are also some useful online platforms and apps that can help monitor or improve an employee’s wellbeing.

Here are some examples of tech you can leverage to improve your health:

Mood tracker: This allows users to record their moods daily. If the changes are too often it may suggest how to relax or even medical advice if needed.

Sleep tracker: Sleeping is about quality more than quantity. Trackers record the time of deep sleep and suggest how someone can improve their sleep quality.

Smart air purifier: Not everyone can relate air quality to wellbeing, however, the air in a workplace can affect employees’ health and mental well-being. Air purifiers ensure employees are breathing clean air.

Online planner: Work-life balance has been a hot topic recently. A healthy balance reduces stress and strengthens our immune system.

Most of the apps provide basic functions for free so try and see if any of these tools suits your employees.

Here’s to leveraging tech for wellbeing!

PS: as you may know, we provide several tech solutions for team wellbeing.
Talents are the most important part of an organisation as they help to achieve organisational goals effectively. Unlike software – which can be updated from time to time – employees need care, communication, and encouragement to keep them up with high productivity.

Nowadays, however, people are more easily distracted by all the incentives in their environment.

To keep them engaged, we have identified 5 ways you can leverage tech to boost your staff’s productivity.

Here are 5 ways to boost your employees’ productivity using tech:

1. Find out your employees’ personality type

There are plenty of online questionnaires and apps that can analyse how people perceive the world and make decisions. Some people are traditional and inflexible; while some enjoy new things and are easy-going. Design different working plans, such as straight working hours or flexible shifts, according to their personality types, will boost their productivity.

2. Encourage communication between managers and employees

Many supervisors have difficulties understanding their teams because of the difference in job positions. Working as a team, it is important to build a good relationship between team members and their managers. Not only using instant messaging apps as a communication tool, but organisations can also schedule a time to hold team building activities, like online Pictionary, to encourage managers and employees to chat and exchange ideas.

3. Participate in volunteering and charity work

Volunteering can improve the communication and interpersonal skills of employees. In this technology-driven world, volunteering opportunities are not limited to in-person form anymore. NGOs have launched apps that any volunteer could help using the app doing translation, teaching and tutoring etc.

4. Build on employees’ strengths

An effective way to help employees thrive is to acquire knowledge and develop their skills. There are some free e-learning platforms and apps that allow people to join the courses of what they want or need to learn. This will help them develop their professional profiles and will generate appreciation for the organisation they work for.

5. Nurture a positive attitude among employees

People tend to be less productive when they are in a bad mood. Ensuring a positive attitude helps employees to enhance their productivity. There are several apps made to maintain people’s positive mindset by reflecting on what they are grateful for and how they can learn from mistakes.

Here’s to organisations that leverage tech to boost business success!

PS: did you know our Colour Assessment allows your organisation to assess its employees’ personality types in an interactive and memorable way? Even in a remote or virtual setting. Get in touch with us to discover more.

You might be suddenly going through tough times due to unpredictable circumstances. Thanks to today’s technology, some have the possibility to work from home. We established 5 actionable tips to manage a remote team effectively.

Organise a daily huddle

Besides weekly meetings with departments and one-on-ones, have a short huddle each morning where everyone jumps on a (video)call and quickly sums up one thing they accomplished yesterday, one thing they will do today and if they are stuck with anything. It’s also a great opportunity to give a shout-out or kuddos to someone in your team who accomplished something extraordinary. At Team Building Asia we do this at 9.18 because it is a memorable time, most won’t forget to dial in. Make sure this is a brief and powerful meeting.

Determine fixed communication flow: communication is a two-way street

With the probability of a communication overload due to limited resources, it’s important to determine a fixed communication flow. Don’t be afraid to use technology: with a collaboration tool, you can neatly organise to do’s, with timelines and assign it to the person responsible. Invest in reliable Set clear goals and determine a realistic timeline together with your employee.

Give space and show trust

According to a 2019 study by Buffer, remote employees struggle the most with unplugging after working hours. Make sure you trust your employees to do their work and manage their own time, and make sure they know that you trust them. Try to not micromanage and give them space to do what they’re supposed to while at the same time keeping track of their achievements in the previously discussed collaboration, communication and planning tools.

Be inclusive

The second biggest struggle of remote work is loneliness. There are multiple tactics to combat this feeling, not by constantly engaging with your employee, but by being inclusive and giving them a sense of belonging. If possible, connect them to another colleague, like ‘buddies’, with who they set up a call weekly at a fixed time to chat about all and nothing, work, life, other struggles. In addition to this, try to get together to do fun things and to get to know each other, for example bring the team together somewhere cool twice a year, organise a team building, even if it’s remote.

Make sure they know when and how you’re available, just for them. Help and support frequently

We’ve already discussed the difficulties in communication when working remotely, but one of the biggest communicative struggles is to not being able to actually verbally talk with each other, thus losing the human connection. When you manage a remote team, let them know when and how they can reach you. Every day, twice a day, three days a week, it doesn’t matter, as long as they know you’re there if they need something or if they just want to have a quick chat.

So get in there, connect with your team daily, build a communication strategy, use tools if necessary and make sure there’s trust, inclusion and support.
